How do I wear a night guard?
This is a customized appliance made to perfectly fit your top or lower teeth. This appliance helps to provide a cushion to lessen the amount of pressure built up over months of grinding. Your jaw will finally rest overnight, and you’ll wake up with less pain and protect your teeth from further wear.
Wearing a Guard to Bed
Is it comfortable? Once it is customized to your mouth, the average person finds it very easy to wear to bed, without an interruption to a restful night’s sleep.
Your dentist will begin by taking a mold of your mouth. The mold is then sent to our lab to be form fitted. Initially, it will take some time to adjust to wearing this device to bed. It could take a few weeks until it feels like a normal part of your sleep routine. You should be able to breathe and speak without issue while wearing your night guard. If you are ever finding it uncomfortable, get it evaluated by your dentist.
